Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * Good compromise ...
Working on laptops is bad for your back and upper neck. A stand like this, along with a separate keyboard and mouse, is a good way to avoid back and neck problems.

Ideally, a stand like this would be stable, fold for travel, and adjust. Well, one out of three isn't bad; in fact it's pretty good. I find it very stable and convenient with up to a 17" laptop, and it's not impossible to pack if you have to. If you use your notebook as a desktop replacement, adding a keyboard and mouse to this makes a very neat and stable solution to improving your workstation ergonomics. I've paired it with an IBM 31P9490 keyboard.

With respect to adjustment, I'd guess that most people over 5' 8" or so will probably find this acceptable on a typical desk or table. It's about 3" lower than ideal for me, but MUCH better than using the laptop on a flat surface. If you are shorter than that, it might still be useful if you are particularly long waisted, or if you are using a very small notebook. However you might want to consider an adjustable stand instead. It is MUCH WORSE to put a screen too high than too low. If the menus at the top of the screen are higher than eye level, the screen is too high for you.

If you are extremely tall, this is probably still an acceptable choice. I doubt an adjustable stand that raises the laptop higher would be a good idea; this stand is certainly better than nothing. You might want to consider some kind of adjustable shelf arrangement.

I'm perfectly satisfied with this stand, but I deduct one star because the stand does not adjust or fold for compact transport. However if it meets you needs, you may find its simplicity outweighs these disadvantages.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * good notebook stand ...
Just what I wanted in a notebook stand. Simple, lightweight, gets my screen to eye-level. The design allows me to tuck my external keyboard cable directly underneath instead of cluttering the sides.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Great laptop accessory ...
This product is a must have for those of us who like the convenience of laptops and have limited space to accommodate an external keyboard and mouse. This is a very useful and functional accessory.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * an elegant solution ...
This stand is an elegantly simple solution to a longstanding problem. It raises the screen to a better height (better ergonomically), leaves more room on my desktop, allows me to use a separate wireless keyboard, and provides a space to place papers that I'm working from just below the screen. Also, it's far more sturdy than it looks.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * A nifty item that didn't work for me ...
This is an ingenious, sturdy and inexpensive notebook stand that has a place to store a full keyboard when not in use so it's not taking up a lot of space. The only problem for me is that the screen ends up too high for good viewing with bifocals. An adjustable stand would probably have been a better option for me. I'd highly recommend it if the height is right for the purchaser.

Some movie-loving wizards must have cast a magic spell on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, because it's another grand slam for the Harry Potter franchise. Demonstrating remarkable versatility after the arthouse success of Y Tu Mamá También, director Alfonso Cuarón proves a perfect choice to guide Harry, Hermione, and Ron into treacherous puberty as the now 13-year-old students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry face a new and daunting challenge: Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) has escaped from Azkaban prison, and for reasons yet unknown (unless, of course, you've read J.K. Rowling's book, considered by many to be the best in the series), he's after Harry in a bid for revenge. This dark and dangerous mystery drives the action while Harry (the fast-growing Daniel Radcliffe) and his third-year Hogwarts classmates discover the flying hippogriff Buckbeak (a marvelous CGI creature), the benevolent but enigmatic Professor Lupin (David Thewlis), horrifying black-robed Dementors, sneaky Peter Pettigrew (Timothy Spall), and the wonderful advantage of having a Time-Turner just when you need one. The familiar Hogwarts staff returns in fine form (including the delightful Michael Gambon, replacing the late Richard Harris as Dumbledore, and Emma Thompson as the goggle-eyed Sybil Trelawney), and even Julie Christie joins this prestigious production for a brief but welcome cameo. Technically dazzling, fast-paced, and chock-full of Rowling's boundless imagination (loyally adapted by ace screenwriter Steve Kloves), The Prisoner of Azkaban is a Potter-movie classic. --Jeff Shannon
